Areas of Focus
ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition characterized by symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which can impact daily functioning and relationships. People with ADHD may struggle with staying organized, focusing on tasks, and managing their time effectively. Helpful strategies that support individuals with ADHD are improving executive functioning, reducing dissociation, and identifying one’s main priorities.
Anxiety
Anxiety disorder is a persistent, intense, and excessive fear or worry related to daily life stressors. People experiencing anxiety may struggle with feeling restless, having a sense of impending danger, and difficulty sleeping. Some strategies that could support individuals with anxiety include learning regulation techniques, increasing sense of trust, and reducing potential stressors.
Life Transitions
Life can be filled with significant changes and milestones, such as graduation, career, relationships, habits, aging, or loss and grief. People who struggle with life transitions can sometimes find themselves feeling lost and worried. Therapy for life transitions can offer skills to support an individual in this new change, co-create meanings from this chapter, and integrate helpful perspectives.
PTSD
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that is caused by an extremely stressful or terrifying event — whether by being part of it or witnessing it. The symptoms of PTSD may appear right after the event, or many years later. Some of the symptoms include intrusive memories, avoidance patterns, and intense emotional reactions. Treatment for PTSD could help restore self-regulation, soothe the nervous system, and re-establish positive feelings like hope.
Relationship Issues
Relationship issues vary across family, which can include marital conflict, parent-child issues, or sibling related issues. People experiencing relationship issues often report feeling exhausted, misunderstood, and helpless. Therapy can support individuals in different relationship situations by mapping out the patterns, identifying areas of change, and providing communication tools to address the root problems.
Therapy Techniques
Emotion-Focused Therapy
Emotion-Focused Therapy helps clients become more aware of and comfortable with their emotions. It focuses on recognizing and processing emotions to gain insight, improve self-understanding, and address unresolved feelings. EFT promotes healing by guiding clients in exploring, expressing, and transforming their emotional responses within a safe, supportive environment.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy
EMDR Therapy is designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories. Through a series of guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, clients can reprocess traumatic memories and reduce their emotional impact. This process helps to decrease symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and phobias, promoting a sense of emotional relief and resilience.
Islamic Psychotherapy
Islamic Psychotherapy integrates Islamic principles with psychological practices, offering a culturally and spiritually aligned therapeutic approach for Muslim clients. It emphasizes values such as patience, gratitude, and self-reflection, with guidance from the Quran and Hadith. This therapy fosters a sense of peace, purpose, and alignment with one’s faith, creating a holistic healing experience.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy helps individuals separate themselves from their problems by viewing them as external issues, allowing them to reshape their life stories in more empowering ways. Through re-examining the stories they tell themselves, clients can uncover strengths and resources, identify new perspectives, and ultimately rewrite narratives that foster resilience and self-empowerment.
Solution-Focused Therapy
Solution-Focused Therapy is a goal-oriented approach that emphasizes clients’ strengths and solutions rather than problems. By focusing on what has worked in the past and envisioning desired outcomes, clients learn practical strategies to achieve their goals, creating positive change in a relatively short period.
